Dangerous Cliff is a four-piece pop/rock ensemble consisting of electric and acoustic guitars, lap steel, bass guitar, drums, percussion and vocals. Each member of the group is an accomplished musician and/or vocalist with years of performing and recording experience.
Dangerous Cliff’s straightforward, sincere approach to pop/rock music provides a positive, dynamic, interactive live performance. The group’s carefully selected repertoire of classic, modern and original songs meanders between familiar and less familiar musical territory bearing common threads of the American experience.
Kevin Maynard — Bass guitar and vocals. The last founder of the band, Kevin spent considerable time as a percussionist and guitarist before picking up the bass guitar. He says, “The bass seemed a perfect marriage of the rhythm of percussion and the melody of guitar.” Kevin believes “the groove is god,” and thinks outside the bass in creating a solid rhythm section with the drummer. He cites gospel, the early Beatles and Marshall Crenshaw as major musical influences.
John Reichle — Guitars, lap steel and vocals. John brings many years of performing experience (and way too many guitars) to Dangerous Cliff. John began playing at age 11 and just never bothered to stop. He has been a fixture in the Ohio , Indiana and Michigan music scenes for years (with brief sojourns to Oklahoma , California and Colorado ). John’s guitar influences include all of the obvious heavyweights (Jimi, Jimmy, Jeff, Eric and Eddie) and some not so obvious musicians (Mark Farner, Sonny Landreth, Brian May). He considers his playing style a happy collision of all of the preceding and more. He describes his vocal style as “grunting with a melody.” John counts John Hiatt among his favorite songwriters, and his music collection contains everything from Bela Fleck to the Sex Pistols.
Mike Cleveland — Guitars and vocals. Cleveland is a music veteran, performing regionally for many years. Cleveland has been a part of groups such as Blitzen and All Hail Me. Mike Cleveland is endorsed by Ernie Ball Strings.
Chuck Mauk — Percussion and vocals. Chuck, another Northwest Ohio music veteran has been playing drums for over 30 years. Chuck has also been a part of All Hail Me. Chuck has performed locally, regionally and nationally. Chuck is endorsed by Sabian cymbals and Los Cabos drumsticks.
